Since its inception, the CPCR had included in its articles of association<\/a> the possibility to help Rwandan genocide survivors who would entrust us the care of their complaints before the French courts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

By lack of resources, the CPCR had not been able to give substance to this project, until the beginning of 2007.\u00a0In May 2007, the CPCR responded to a humanitarian project launched by the city of Reims in Champagne and we\u00a0decided to support the survivors of Gisagara<\/strong> all plaintiffs in Ntawukuriryayo Dominique case against former sub-prefect which we had filed complaints in 2004 and 2006. (1)<\/p>\n

The file we then mounted caught the attention of elected officials and a sum of 3500 euros was given to us. Our plan was to buy cows for the neediest survivors. From August 2007, the President of the CPCR reconnected with the group of survivors in Gisagara. Participants immediately decided to create an association (Humura Shenge) and appoint four officials. In consultation with the complainant, it was decided to buy a couple of cows. Each person who received a cow committed to give the first calf to another survivor.<\/p>\n

(1) The court of Carcassonne was declared “incompetent” on the grounds that the defendant was not found at the address we provided. He was eventually arrested on 16 October 2007, at the same address that we had given. The French court decided to respond positively to the request for extradition of the ICTR (International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda).
