
The dead and their ghosts were part of her life for over thirty years. Dafroza Mukarumongi-Gauthier —who founded the CPCR alongside her husband, Alain— has passed away.
Her radiant presence left a profound mark on all those fortunate enough to meet her. Her funeral will take place on Monday, October 12, in Reims.
We will carry on her fight for justice, truth, and the dignity of survivors.
The funeral service will be held at Saint-André Church, 3 Parvis Chanoine Warnier, Reims at 10.30 a. m.
At 1:00 p.m. a private cremation service for the family will take place as well as a public reception.

Together with her husband, Alain Gauthier, Dafroza founded the Collectif des parties civiles pour le Rwanda (CPCR) in 2001. The organisation gathered testimonies and evidence in Rwanda and compiled case files that were submitted to French authorities for prosecution.
Their work earned the couple national recognition in Rwanda. On November 18, 2017, President Paul Kagame awarded them ‘Impeta y’Igihango’, the National Order of Outstanding Friendship, for their contribution to bringing Genocide suspects to justice and strengthening Rwanda’s standing internationally. -

The Government of Rwanda has mourned the death of Dafroza Mukarumongi Gauthier, a France-based campaigner who spent decades helping pursue suspects of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
Together with her husband, Alain Gauthier, she co-founded the Collectif des parties civiles pour le Rwanda (CPCR) in France in 2001, through which they helped gather testimonies and evidence for cases against Genocide suspects.In a statement issued on Saturday, the government described her work that earned her Igihango National Order of Outstanding Friendship in 2017 as “tireless”.
“Madame Dafroza Gauthier’s courage and unwavering commitment to memory, truth and justice leave an enduring legacy,” the statement read.
The government extended condolences to the husband, her family and friends, as well as “all whose lives she touched.”
